CEO Awarded Grand Commander of the Order of the Rokel

As a recognition of his role and contribution towards the development of the Finance and Banking Industry in the country, the Chief Executive Officer, Mr J. Sanpha Koroma was honoured with the National Award of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Rokel (GCOR) by His Excellency the President, Alhaji Dr Ahmad Tejan Kabbah on the 46th Independence Day celebrations, April 27, 2007 at a colourful ceremony at State House, Freetown.

• His eminent career as Economist in the Ministry of Finance, ending in the capacity of Deputy Financial Secretary, Economic Affairs Division;
• His notable establishment of the National Authorising Office (NAO) on secondment from the Ministry of Finance (1976/77);
• His legendary stewardship at the National Development Bank as Managing Director (1986-1990);
• The establishment of the Sierra Leone Road Transport Authority (SLRTA) as Managing Consultant (1994) and as its first Chairman (1996-1998);
• As Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Union Trust Bank Limited (1995); and
• His remarkable tenure as war-time Governor of the Bank of Sierra Leone (1998-2003)
  
  Also cited were his career achievements in International Economic Management as

• World Bank Consultant in the economic reconstruction of Ghana (1985/86);
• Alternate Executive Director of the African Development Bank Group (ADB), (1988-1990); and
